Seamfix, a leading provider of digital identity solutions, has received a $4.5 million investment from Alitheia IDF, a fund dedicated to gender lens investing. This significant investment will enhance Seamfix's technological infrastructure and support its expansion into five additional African nations: Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Uganda.

Seamfix specializes in creating, verifying, and accrediting identities for large organizations and government bodies across Africa. This funding, which is Seamfix’s initial institutional investment, will facilitate the extension of their critical digital ID and credential services, essential for economic growth in digitally evolving African markets. Studies suggest that effective digital ID systems could increase GDP in African countries by up to 13%.

Founded by Chimezie Emewulu and Chibuzor Onwurah, Seamfix has become a pioneer in connecting businesses and individuals to diverse identity databases both within Africa and globally. The company has developed solutions for a variety of clients including Veremark, Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission [NIMC], and major telecommunications and financial institutions like MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9 Mobile, United Bank for Africa, and Interswitch.

Notable achievements of Seamfix include the development of a digital platform that facilitated the registration of over 100 million National Identification Numbers (NINs) in Nigeria and helped telecom providers register and verify over 200 million Subscriber Identification Modules (SIMs) to adhere to regulatory standards.

Seamfix’s influence extends across the continent with significant engagements in countries like Côte D’Ivoire, Liberia, and Sudan, supporting telcos with SIM registration and national identity verification. The company’s APIs are also crucial for KYC processes during customer onboarding and employee background checks for numerous fintechs and SMEs.

Moreover, Seamfix's digital credential platform has revolutionised the credential issuance and certification process for several African universities, allowing them to issue instantly verifiable credentials and significantly boosting their internally generated revenue by more than 2,000%.

The investment also brings new members to Seamfix’s board. Tokunboh Ishmael, co-founder of Alitheia Capital, and Frank Atube, a leader with extensive experience across several strategic roles within Seamfix, including Head of Product Management and Chief Operating Officer.

Tokunboh Ishmael highlighted the critical role of digital IDs in economic inclusion and empowerment, particularly for women in low-income settings in emerging economies.
