Treepz, the leading African mobility company, has unveiled its innovative consumer-facing app, marking a significant milestone in Africa's transportation sector. As the first car-sharing marketplace in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Uganda, Treepz aims to cater to the needs of over 26 million vehicle owners across the continent.

The car-sharing marketplace provides a platform for car owners to rent out their vehicles for short to long-term durations, offering a cost-effective and sustainable mobility solution in Africa.

With more than 600 million people residing in African urban areas and less than 44 cars per 1,000 individuals, there is a pressing demand for affordable transportation alternatives.

Treepz's car-sharing platform addresses this demand by enabling individuals to rent a car only when necessary and for flexible periods. This not only helps alleviate traffic congestion but also contributes to a more sustainable transportation ecosystem by reducing carbon emissions.

According to McKinsey & Company, the car-sharing market in Africa is projected to experience an annual growth rate of 20% from 2020 to 2030, reaching an estimated market value of $500 million.

As the largest car-sharing marketplace in Africa in terms of market size, Treepz is well-positioned to capitalize on this growth and provide accessible and sustainable transportation options to individuals across the continent.

The marketplace is accessible on both iOS and Android platforms, offering a diverse range of vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, vans, and buses. Renters, referred to as 'Guests' by Treepz, can easily search for vehicles based on their location and desired duration, selecting from a comprehensive list of car owners, makes, and models.

Car owners, known as 'Hosts' within the Treepz ecosystem, have the flexibility to set their prices, availability, and long-term booking discounts, among other customizable features.

Prominent businesses such as Wakanow and Tekexperts in Nigeria, Twiga Foods and Diamond Trust Bank in Kenya, and numerous other organizations in Africa, have already utilized the Treepz solution for their staff. Now, Treepz is extending its services to consumers, making vehicle rentals more accessible to a broader audience.

Treepz has garnered support from reputable investors, including Google, SOSV, Goodwater Capital, Techstars, and GIIG Africa Fund, further validating the company and its new marketplace as a credible and promising venture.

According to Treepz’s CEO, Onyeka Akumah,

The new Treepz is an exciting innovation for transportation in Africa. We are making better use of the more than 26 million vehicles available on the continent to provide commuters with enjoyable and fun transportation service as they travel for work or simply enjoy a smooth ride across the safaris in the continent. Today we are regarded as the largest car-sharing marketplace in Africa and we have seized that opportunity with the technology we’ve built for hosts (vehicle owners or rental companies) to manage their inventory, reach new customers and track their growth.
While guests who book from these hosts have the luxury to select their dream car for work, pleasure or exploration with a vetted driver. We have spent the last 5 months building this solution and we are excited to introduce you to this in Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda and Kenya.
Treepz is at the forefront of this important movement with guests and hosts enjoying their commute and making money on the continent. Our goal is to listen to our customers and keep making them happy with every trip they make with us, so this innovation is to tell our customers, we have listened and built Treepz for you.
