Villgro Africa is looking for creative answers to the continent’s low-income residents’ lack of access to high-quality, reasonably priced healthcare services and modern technology.

Startups can submit applications to be included in Villgro Africa’s portfolio and get money starting at $20,000. They will also obtain technical support for business development and access to additional investment options.

With the opening of Villgro Kenya, an early-stage business incubator and impact investor that provides guidance and support, funding, and access to connections to startups in the healthcare and life sciences sector in East Africa, the India-based Villgro Innovations Foundation’s reach into Africa increased in 2017.

It changed its name to Villgro Africa in 2020, extended throughout the continent, and has now provided over US$1 million in startup capital to dozens of businesses.

Eligibility

• Innovations in business models, services, or products with a concentration on the health and life sciences
• Preferably, the remedy should directly benefit the low-income population and address one or more health issues.
• The remedy must be scalable and long-lasting (For-profit company)
• The business needs a minimally viable product (not in the idea stage)
