Skill-to-market platform AltSchool Africa has announced the launch of two new faculties, focusing on the Creative Economy and Business, to complement its existing course offerings. This expansion comes on the heels of a highly successful first year that saw a 40% course completion rate.

Traditionally, AltSchool Africa has offered courses primarily related to in-code and no-code tech skills. With this latest move, the platform will now include courses in content creation, sales, and music business, using Afrobeats as a case study, alongside its existing nine courses. Applications are currently being accepted for the first cohort of these new programs.

In recent years, Africa has witnessed a growing interest in its creative economy, with emerging career paths such as music management, content creation, and influencer marketing gaining traction. AltSchool Africa is at the forefront of reshaping learning to accommodate this shift in thinking and career aspirations.

Renowned personalities, including Nigerian artist Falzthebahdguy (Folarin Falana), content creator and actor Mr Macaroni (Adebowale Adedayo), and media personality Do2dtun (Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode), are among the facilitators for the Creative Economy faculty. The Business faculty will feature industry experts such as Nigerian film director and cinematographer Nora Awolowo, multi-award-winning music journalist Joey Akan, and content creator Aproko Doctor (Chinonso Egemba).

AltSchool Africa, founded in 2021 by Adewale Yusuf, Akintunde Sultan, and Opeyemi Awoyemi, has experienced rapid growth, receiving over 50,000 applications from 83 countries, with the majority coming from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, and the United Kingdom. The platform has successfully enrolled more than 20,000 learners since its inception.

Adewale Yusuf, Co-Founder and CEO of AltSchool Africa expressed the platform's commitment to offering accessible and impactful learning experiences. He emphasized AltSchool Africa's goal to provide individuals with the skills necessary to succeed in the job market, ultimately contributing to a brighter future for the continent.

Rachel Onoja, Head of Operations at AltSchool Africa, emphasized the platform's commitment to delivering a valuable and accessible learning experience. AltSchool Africa's programs have no educational prerequisites and can be completed in as little as six weeks, with course fees starting at $100.

With over 90% of African youths aged 15-24 engaged in the informal sector and facing low pay due to a lack of relevant skills, AltSchool Africa's upskilling initiatives address the urgent need to enhance Africa's workforce. As approximately 321 million youths are projected to enter the workforce by 2030, upskilling plays a crucial role in ensuring quality job prospects beyond tertiary education.

AltSchool Africa's mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and career opportunities they need to thrive in the modern world, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to set learners up for success.
