Capria, a prominent firm specializing in Global South investments and supporting early-growth startups in the region, has revealed the successful first close of its $100 million fund.
With a focus on tech founders who possess boundless ambitions, Capria establishes a collaborative network that connects these individuals and facilitates strong relationships between hundreds of founders and leading local venture capital firms in Global South's thriving tech hubs.
The newly launched fund aims to invest in approximately 20-25 tech startups situated in Africa, India, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East—regions known for their entrepreneurial hotspots. Notable investors in the fund include OIP Investment Trust, Gates Ventures, as well as various foundations, individuals, and family offices, such as Crystal Springs Foundation, Sall Family Foundation, Brakeman Family Trust, and two founders from Pioneer Square Labs.

In addition to its ongoing pursuit of founders harnessing the potential of generative AI to revolutionize multiple sectors, Capria's latest fund will also emphasize investments in climate startups. The firm has already made promising investments in startups located in Mexico, Brazil, Nigeria, and Egypt, including Kueski (fintech), Agrofy (agritech), MAX (mobility), and Paymob (fintech).
