AI-Based Healthcare Startup DilenyTech Acquired by US Firm

Egypt-based deep technology startup, DilenyTech, has been acquired by US health technology company, Astute Imaging LLC. The Egyptian startup is developing innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions that screens and diagnose radiology workflow.


DilenyTech was founded in 2018 by Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud with the aim to revolutionise breast cancer screening and the diagnostic workflow that comes with AI-based assistance for more accurate detection and expedited reporting.


The startup also develops acute solutions for medical imaging analysis, breast cancer risk assessment, and structured reporting using several medical applications. Over the years, DilenyTech has provided services to top-tier international health-tech companies with active users in three different continents.


The acquisition by Astute Imaging comes a year after the startup had secured US$160,000 in grant funding.


The US-based firm provides imaging-guided therapy and procedure planning services for patients. And according to the founders, the acquisition will enable Astute Imaging to leverage the power of AI to improve its current offering by expanding its services and developing innovative solutions in the medical imaging domain.


Speaking about this deal, Wael Elseaidy, co-founder and CEO of Astute Imaging said: “This strategic acquisition of DilenyTech will enable Astute Imaging to expedite the development of an AI-driven image-guided therapy platform and add more automation to our imaging services and procedure planning solutions. Empowering our surgery planning and patient follow-up imaging platforms with AI will help our customers and medical imaging stakeholders to provide more patient-centric proactive services.”


“We are excited to be part of Astute Imaging’s amazing team and adopt our expertise and technologies to build reliable AI technologies for imaging-guided therapy,” said DilenyTech founder and innovation director, who will also be joining Astute Imaging’s founding team and managing the imaging operations. 


“We have applied our technologies successfully in the area of breast imaging and we look forward to expanding our AI pipeline to other imaging areas such as thyroid, liver and gynaecology as well as cardiovascular 3D imaging and procedural planning. We believe Astute Imaging will be a gamechanger for healthcare providers and device companies,” he concluded.
